An evening celebrating poetry, culture, history, and Afro-Puerto Rican legacy. We’ll honor the words and work of the late revolutionary poet Frank Velgara Valentín, featuring a reading from My Lower East Side Poetry Story, presented by his daughter, Yuisa Alegría-Gimeno.
We’ll also welcome Mayda Del Valle, Chicago’s Poet Laureate, sharing her own poetry before we close out the evening with a bombazo hosted by La Escuelita Bombera de Corazón!
