Bomberxs D’ Cora
Bomberxs D’Cora of La Escuelita Bombera de Corazón les by Jonathan Pacheco is a collective of Bomba practitioners dedicated to preserving and advancing Bomba, Puerto Rico’s oldest surviving music and dance tradition, created by the island’s African descendants. With deep roots in community, education, and performance, Bomberxs D’Cora carries forward the legacy of Bomba as both an art form and a living expression of resistance, resilience, and joy.
Formed in Chicago, the ensemble reflects the vision of La Escuelita Bombera de Corazón, founded by Ivelisse Díaz, and is composed of a multigenerational group of dedicated artists and cultural workers. Through their drumming, song, and dance, Bomberxs D’Cora honor the traditions of Puerto Rico while highlighting the ways Bomba continues to evolve in the Diaspora.
Whether on stage, in classrooms, or in community gatherings, Bomberxs D’Cora embodies the heartbeat of Bomba holding ancestral memory and the affirming power of culture to connect, heal, and transform.
